Garden Bench
Garden benches are great additions for any garden or yard, as they are able to provide a place to sit in and relax, as you take in the beauty
of your garden. Here would be a couple of pointers as to what you need to consider when purchasing your bench.
1. Check the material of the bench.
A lot of garden benches are designed with wood and you need to know which type of wood they were made from as they have different looks and
different lifetimes. Pinewood looks beautiful but is not able to last for a very long time. Some of the better choices for wood to be used for
benches would be cedar, cypress or redwood. Teak could be one of the better options for wood since it is able to last for a long time. It also
acquires a great silvery shine as it ages. However, teak is also a bit more expensive compared to the other types of wood. Probably more durable
would be the metal and concrete garden benches, particularly against the natural elements; however, they are not as comfortable compared to
wooden benches.
2. Check the bench construction.
You would also need to evaluate the way the bench was constructed. The less bolts and screws that were used, the more durable it will be. You
could probably go for a garden bench, which employs mortise and tenon joinery.
3. Check the size of the bench.
You would also need to consider the bench size, as well as how many people would be making use of it prior to purchasing it. A bench, which
has a length of four feet, could sit a person comfortably, but could sit two who would be sitting closely together. There are a lot of bench
sizes and you need to think of how many would be sitting on it before buying it.
4. Check the price.
Cheaper benches might not last very long as they could be made with poorer quality. Sometimes, it could be worth it to pay more for a garden
bench, which would last you a long time.
